Recreational Access/Historical Resources/Other Interests
The
Crab Meadow Watershed provides high quality opportunities for
recreational activities involving nature trails, and direct access to
high quality estuary resources including salt marshes, beaches along
Long Island Sound. Direct access to these resources provide
opportunities for the development of public appreciation and promote
watershed stewardship. It is important that recreational access and societal needs are balanced with a strong consideration of conservation goals.
Cultural
and historical resources provide and understanding of the history of
the Town of Huntington, and the activities and past events that shaped
the present conditions within the Crab Meadow watershed. It is important
to understand the societal value placed on the history of a region, and ensure that future generations will have the opportunity to understand, appreciate, and learn about the past.
