Handicapped Services
- Accepted a donation from Stand Up and Play Long Island of a Paramobile wheelchair to the used at the Crab Meadow Golf Course by persons with disabilities.
- During the holiday season, holds a press conference to announce that the town increases efforts to enforce illegal handicapped and fire zone parking.
- Worked to install handicapped swings on existing swing sets at Heckscher Park and Breezy Park so children can swing and play together with all children, regardless of their ability.
- Funded special projects for the disabled – more than $23,000 and and established the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities.
- Supported the Handicapped Parking Enforcement Program, which collects nearly $90,000 a year in fines by dispatching volunteers with cameras to catch those who are using Handicapped Parking places illegally.
- Sponsored legislation to purchase a handicapped floating beach chair for Crab Meadow Beach in Northport to assist those from getting from the parking lot, to the beach and ultimately to the water.
