Picnic Reservations

Parks and Recreation Department provides for Town of Huntington residents picnic facilities for reservation, and charges a picnic application and permit fee in order to reserve picnic areas at the following Huntington Parks and Beaches. Office Hours 9am to 4pm. See the Beach & Park Events page under the Permits, Forms and Rules of Use section to download application forms.

  • Caledonia Park, Caledonia and Wolf Hill Roads, Dix Hills. Picnic Area Limit: 100 people. At least one table must remain open for general public use.
  • Elwood Park, Cuba Hill Road, Elwood. Picnic Area Limit: 200 people. At least one table must remain open for general public use.
  • William E. Kessler Melville Park, Sweet Hollow Rd, Melville Picnic Area Limit: 100 people. At least one table must remain open for general public use.
  • Centerport Beach, Little Neck Road, and Centerport. (Main pavilion up to 100 people with minimum 75 to reserve. Small pavilions 1 & 2 up to 25 people each. Pavilions 3 & 4 are open to general public.)
  • Crab Meadow Beach, Waterside Avenue, Northport. Picnic Area Limit: 150 people (Yellow Section open to General Public)

All applications require payment of a non-refundable processing fee of $50 (Fifty Dollars). Permit fee is based on the number of participant attendees.

Those who would like to provide beer and wine to attendees of your event (at no cost) to a private “by invitation only” event (family picnic, family reunion, company picnic, etc.) must submit a New York State Liquor Authority application and approved NYSLA permit for a beer and wine permit.* New York State allows the Town to issue only a very limited number of such permits in any calendar year.  For further information on fees, picnic applications, alcoholic beverage permits contact Nancy O'Brien in the Town Hall Parks & Recreation Office (631)-351-3103.
