Supervisor Ed Smyth and Highway Superintendent Andre Sorrentino want residents to be aware of this important weather announcement from the National Weather Service:
A winter storm watch is in effect for our area from Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Heavy mixed precipitation is possible. Snow and sleet accumulation totals could be between 3 and 5 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze are also possible. Plan on slippery driving conditions as roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
Highway Superintendent Andre Sorrentino urges all residents to please stay off the roads during and immediately after the storm and to not park on the street. Doing so will only hamper the Town’s ability to clean up the roads and make them safe for travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution.
There is a possibility that the snow amounts could change, and that our area could get additional precipitation next week. We recommend that you monitor the latest forecasts for updates on the winter storm watches and warnings for our area.
Be safe and please drive carefully. Thank you.
