Initiatives

Eugene hopes to work with his peers to bring the following initiatives to the Town of Huntington:

  • Propose and support Transparency within the Town of Huntington. Huntington’s checkbook should be available for public online viewing so that its citizens can review not only government spending but the actual revenues generated by each of the various departments and programs in the Town. It would allow for transparency of which departments and programs have been successful in attaining their projected revenue while remaining within their budget. Additionally, it allows for educated reviews of department and program budget requirements as well as the modification or elimination of programs or departments that are not meeting their objectives. Councilman Cook accomplished the first step towards transparency in Huntington Government by working with his colleagues to request an audit by the NYS Comptroller’s office which commenced in June of 2012.
  • Propose and support a town board and county policy that all planning and development must adhere to a thorough Environmental Impact Study.

 

  • Sponsor various sports programs such as Soccer , Boxing, and Basketball with the SCPD (PAL), and SCPD 2nd Precinct to benefit local Huntington youth.
