On January 23, 2018, The Huntington Town Board approved limiting elected Town officials to three four-year terms. The resolution, proposed by Councilman Cook , limits the offices of town supervisor, town council, town clerk, receiver of taxes and the superintendent of highways to three consecutive terms, or a total of 12 years in office. This resolution passed 4-1.  Councilman Cook stated after the meeting “It’s the right thing. Elected officials have an upper hand and they can be there forever, so now we sort of evened the field today.”
