Town Facilities

Buildings & Operations: It is the goal of the Town to maximize the energy efficiency of its buildings and operations. Participation in programs like the United States Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Climate Smart Communities, Huntington is joining sister municipalities around the state and country in a national effort to re-establish America’s energy independence by reducing our energy consumption and investing in renewable energy technologies. Two major projects that the Town has recently completed.

Sewage Treatment Plant Retrofits

  • HVAC System Upgrade (Electric to Natural Gas)
  • Energy Efficient Lighting Retrofit (All Fixtures)
  • Installation of Energy Efficient Blowers (3) for drying post-treatment sludge

LEED Upgrades for Town Hall

  • Variable Frequency Drive on HVAC system Installation (March 2012)
  • Computerized Building Management System Upgrade (December 2011)
  • Installation Solar Photo-Voltaic Electric Generating system (March 2011)
The Town has begun tracking energy use in all of its facilities using the USEPA Portfolio Manager bench-marking tool, interactive energy management software that tracks and assesses energy and water consumption across an entire portfolio of buildings and facility assets.
