U.S. Department of Energy Better Building Challenge

In May 2012, as a part of its continuing effort to reduce Huntington's carbon footprint, the Town Board voted to become a municipal partner in the US Department of Energy's Better Buildings Challenge (BBC). The goal of the Better Buildings Challenge is to reduce non-residential energy consumption in the United States by 20% by 2020.   
As a municipal partner, Huntington will be joining cities, towns, counties and villages across the country who have committed to that goal. Huntington is up-grading energy systems supplying nearly one million square feet of floor space in municipal buildings.  The Town is also seeking the participation of other agencies and private business to become Challenge partners and adopt energy saving strategies that will lead to America energy independence and a cleaner more sustainable planet to leave to our children and grand children.
