How Do I Recycle…

For residents of the Town's Refuse District we provide curbside recycling of:

The Town's Refuse District does not include incorporated villages, some gated communities, apartments, condominiums and co-ops with commercial dumpster service.

The Recycling Center is a resident drop-off location for recyclables. The Recycling Center  accepts all of the recyclable materials that are collected curbside as well as: Automotive and marine batteries; Rechargeable batteries; and used motor oil. The Recycling Center is available to all residents including those from incorporated villages who may not have the same level of curbside recycling service as the Town.

Plastic Bag Recycling is mandated by NY State law of all large retail stores in the state. Residents can bring their clean plastic bags to these stores and drop them off to be recycled. This type of program is known as a "Take-Back Recycling Program". There are additional Take Back Recycling Programs mandated by state law that provide additional recycling options to Town residents. For a detailed explanation of the various programs follow the link.

There are multitude of other recycling options that are not covered by the programs on this page. Please visit the Earth 911 search website for a searchable database of all recyclables and how to recycle them. Earth 911 has also developed a smartphone app that uses your location to search for the closest recycler near you for all of your recycling needs.
