Geographic Information System

Purpose

The Town of Huntington Department of Planning and Environment maintains a Geographic Information System (GIS) to organize, analyze and distribute geospatial information within the Town offices and to the public.  The GIS is used to map many kinds of data including property information, site history, zoning, environmental data, parks, trails, and many more.  The GIS enhances productivity and improves the Town’s efficiency by providing staff with accurate and up-to-date maps and geospatial information quickly and easily.

GIS Information is distributed to the public in both web-based maps and printed maps with information on many different topics.  There are two levels of public GIS access.  The free public GIS contains access to property information, taxes and other limited layers.  GIS Pro, provides access to datasets designed for appraisers, architects, engineers, real estate agents and surveyors, in addition to the freely available layers.
