Rules & Regulations Chapter 159: Recreational Facilities
Chapter 159-31; Permit; Application and Issuance:
Whenever any group, league or organization requires the use of recreation or park facilities for a particular purpose, such as picnics, gatherings, league sports, exhibitions, meetings or special events; or wants to serve beer or wine at designated picnic areas, a permit is required from the Director for the specific use desired in specifically designated areas. Permits are available from the Director for the following:
(1) Special Event Permit: required for special events, assemblies, meetings, antique and craft fairs, and exhibitions.
(2) Athletic Field Permit: required for the use of sport facilities and fields by youth and adult sport organizations and leagues for a period of up to twenty (20) weeks (season).
(3) Picnic (NO BEER / NO WINE) The consumpution of beer, wine or alcohol of any kind is STRICTLY PROHIBITED at this event.
- A Permit is required for reservation of space at picnic pavilions and other designated picnic areas.
- The Town requires for Non-Profit and For-Profit Organizations to provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance for this Picnic Event, evidencing liability coverage in the amount of $1,000,000.00 per occurrence and $2,000,000.00 aggregate Insurance. The Certificate of Insurance must name the Town of Huntington and the Town of Huntington Board of Trustees as Certificate Holders and Additional Insured’s, by endorsement.
- Caterers preparing food in designated Town Picnic Areas are required to secure a Certificate of Liability Insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00 naming the Town of Huntington and Town of Huntington Town Board of Trustees as additional insured’s by endorsement, and the appropriate Suffolk County Dept. of Health Permits for the preparation/service of food. A Certificate of Insurance evidencing such coverage must be provided by the caterer to the Department of Parks and Recreation, at least fifteen business (15) days prior to the date of the picnic. Said coverage shall remain in full force and effect for time of the picnic.
(4) Special Events Picnic (for Beer and/ or Wine) Permit: REQUIRES A NEW YORK STATE LIQUOR AUTHORITY PERMIT to allow or permit the consumption of Beer and/ or Wine at this event. Applicants wishing to possess and consume beer and/or wine at a picnic or special event on Town property (parks and beaches) are now required to fill out a Town Special Events Picnic Application for Picnics and/ or for Special Events Application for an special event permit and to obtain a Temporary Beer, Wine and Cider Permit from the New York State Liquor Authority for either one.
- The Town requires the applicant to provide Certificate of Liability Insurance, evidencing liquor liability coverage in the amount of $2,000,000.00 per occurrence. The Certificate of Insurance must name the Town of Huntington and the Town of Huntington Board of Trustees as Certificate Holders and Additional Insured’s, by endorsement.
