Bike Share Program

In late Spring 2021, the Town of Huntington launched its bike share program with vendor PedalShare to promote sustainable, green transportation and exercise in a test launch in downtown Huntington as part of the Suffolk County Bike Share Program sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union as "Bethpage Ride."

LOCATIONS

Bicycles and racks are available annually, from May 1 through November 30, at locations around downtown Huntington:

Halesite: Mill Dam Park at the corner of Mill Dam Road and West Shore Road and across the street from Mill Dam Marina, which means you can take a boat to Halesite, hop on a bike and ride into downtown Huntington!

Huntington: Heckscher Park at the Prime Avenue entrance to the museum parking lot.

Huntington Village: Gerard Street Parking Lot on the southern side of the lot on the sidewalk behind merchants facing Main Street.

Huntington Village: New Street Parking Lot on the northern side of the lot on the sidewalk behind merchants facing Main Street.

Huntington Station: Paul H. Johnson, Sr. Gateway Plaza on the east side of Route 110, between Henry Street and Olive Street in Huntington Station.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Download the Bloom Bike and Scooter Sharing App (Play Store/App Store) and sign up.
  2. Scan the QR code between the handlebars to unlock the bike.
  3. Leave the app open during your ride and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
  4. Park in any open space at a PedalShare/Bethpage Ride location around downtown Huntington.
  5. Lock your back tire to end your ride.

SAFETY

Users must be 18 years of age, operate the bicycles in a safe manner and in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, including as related to helmets.

PRICING

All terms and conditions regarding riders’ usage of the bicycles, including pricing and payment through the app, are set by PedalShare, and governed by arrangement between user and PedalShare, not the Town. The Town does not receive revenue from the program.
