Vacant Building Registration
As of SEPTEMBER 14, 2021, an amendment was made to the Vacant Building Registration Local Law, Chapter 160 of the Town of Huntington, as follows:
§160-13. Annual registration of vacant buildings.
(A) Any owner of a building which has been vacant for more than one hundred and eighty (180) consecutive days shall register the vacant property with the Department of Public Safety (previously was 120 days).
§160-14. Registration and Processing Fees
VACANT BUILDING APPLICATION
Residential Properties
- 1st year filing: $250
- 2nd year filing: $500
- 3rd year filing: $750
- 4th year filing $1,000
Late Fees
- $25 late fee for every thirty (30) days late
Commercial Properties
- 1st year filing: $500
- 2nd year filing: $1,000
- 3rd year filing: $1,500
- 4th year filing: $2,000
Late Fees
- $50 late fee for every thirty (30) days late
This new fee schedule will take effect starting with the January 2022 renewals. Any property that had a vacant registration with the Town of Huntington in 2021 will be subject to 2nd year filing fees.
