Parking Enforcement Team (PET)
The Department of Public Safety began dedicating patrol resources to the new Parking Enforcement Team (PET) in downtown Huntington village and at the Huntington LIRR Train Station beginning on March 1, 2019 as one of many steps the Town is taking to alleviate parking congestion.
The Parking Enforcement Team consists of full-time officers dedicated to parking enforcement, who patrol regularly, as well as occasional part-time resources as they become available and if conditions warrant.
The Parking Enforcement Team is tasked with ensuring parking patrons adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in the Town's Traffic Code, issuing citations for municipal lot parking violations; metered parking violations; handicap parking violations in metered spots, municipal lots, and private lots where there Town has agreements in place with property owners to enforce handicap parking violations; and fire zone code violations.
The Department of Public Safety encourages parking patrons to report parking issues or suspected abuse of parking rules online.

Parking FAQs
Can commercial vehicles or trailers be parked on the roadway?
Commercial vehicles or trailers can not be parked on the roadway between 10 PM and 8 AM or at any time on Sundays. See § TC5-2 of the Town of Huntington Uniform Traffic Code.
How can I access the Traffic Code online?
You can view the Huntington Traffic Code online by accessing this link: http://www.ecode360.com/HU0566
Select QUICKVIEW and then use the Search Tool in the upper right hand corner to find the related code.
The Town of Huntington Traffic Code can also be found toward the end of the Table of Contents. Example: You wish to view the Traffic Code for a ticket received for “Parking in a No Parking Zone”. The ticket will reference the Chapter and Section of the Code where you will find this under, “3-3A(1)”. Open up the chapter that reflects the first number in the violation, in this example, it would be Chapter TC3, the first number in the violation 3-3A(1). There you can then find the section that pertains to the violation you wish to view.
How can I obtain a Commuter Permit for my vehicle?
The Town Clerk’s Office issues Commuter Parking Permits. You can contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 631-351-3206.
I received a commuter parking permit and it indicates that I am to place the permit on the driver’s side rear window but I drive an unconventional vehicle (motorcycle, pick-up truck, convertible, soft-top, dark tint or no rear driver side window), where should I place my permit?
The Town understands that not all vehicles conform to the standard for requested placement of the Commuter Permit, therefore, if you have an unconventional vehicle, we request that you place the permit where you think we would be able to see it. Enforcement officers know to get out and look for these permits when they view an unconventional vehicle.
Where can I find information on parking summonses?
Information on parking summonses and how to pay or appeal a parking summons can be found here.
