Maritime Services

The Department of Maritime Services is responsible for the Town's kayak and mooring permitting process.

Kayak Permits: Residents ($100 for 59 years and younger) ($25 if you are 60 years +) may store kayaks at any of the Town's 8 beaches on the provided kayak storage racks. Residents must apply online through the Town’s website. After the online application has been submitted and checked by the Department of Maritimes staff, the Resident will receive via email an invoice that needs to be paid online only. Kayak Permits will be mailed out in mid-May. The online kayak permitting process opens on January 15, 2025. For more information, please contact Department of Maritime Services at (631) 351-3192

Mooring Permits: Residents ($40) and non-Residents ($200) may apply online only through the Town’s website beginning January 15, 2025. After the online application has been submitted and check by the Department of Maritime’s staff, the mooring permit applicant will receive an invoice via email that needs to be paid online only. Once paid your mooring permit will be mailed within 3-5 days. For more information, please contact the Department of Maritime Services @ the Harbormaster’s office 631-351-3255.

Town of Huntington Launch Service: The Goldstar Launch is available for patrons that are moored within the Goldstar Battalion Beach mooring field. Residents ($900) Non-Residents ($1050) For more information, please contact Department of Maritime Services @ the Harbormaster’s office 631-351-3255.

The Maritime Services Department oversees, the Town’s beaches, beach pavilions, waterfront parks, picnic areas, boardwalks, docks, wharfs, bulkheads, piers, boat ramps, dinghy/kayak racks and marinas. This includes providing law enforcement in bays and harbors to regulate private water craft, the placement and maintenance of navigation markers, the issuance of mooring permits, kayak permits, assignment of marina slips, and launch services. Maritime manages marine resources including protection and management of shellfish harvesting, marine ecosystems, aquaculture, wetlands and coastal water quality as well as Town-wide spill response.
