Community Services

Whether you are a senior, a youth, a veteran or a person with a disability; whether you are in need of help to rehabilitate your house or experience the joys of home ownership; or whether you want to volunteer to help keep the Town’s parks, beaches, cemeteries or animal shelter in a state for which we all can be proud, Huntington reaches out the community with programs tailored to your needs and wants.

The Human Services Department has operating divisions offering services for:

• Persons with Disabilities
• Minorities 
• Women
• Seniors
• Veterans 

In addition to Human Services, the Town fosters community outreach through the Huntington Community Development Agency, which offer home rehabilitation, down payment assistance and affordable housing programs. 

Huntington also sponsors nearly unlimited volunteer opportunities through departments as diverse as Animal Control, Planning & Environment and Maritime Services to welcome volunteers at the Animal Shelter who work with dogs awaiting adoption, at parks and historic cemeteries as stewards and ankle deep in coastal waters during seasonal beach cleanups.
