Commercial Recycling

Cardboard and mixed office paper recycling are collected on the following schedule: 

  • Huntington cardboard and paper recycling is done Monday through Friday. Collection begins at 10:30 A.M.
  • Huntington  Station cardboard and paper recycling is done Monday through Friday .Collection begins at 3:30 P.M.

To Recycle Paper

  • Cardboard ~ Corrugated cardboard should be flattened and bundled in four foot lengths or less and bundles should not exceed 50 pounds. Cardboard boxes should not be used as garbage containers.
  • Mixed Office Paper ~ Place clean office paper at the curb alongside your corrugated cardboard prior to the collection time noted above. Office paper must be secured into bundles or paper bags to reduce the risk of paper blowing in to the street.

Recycle the following:

  • all white & colored general office paper (any size)
  • adding machine tape,
  • glossy paper
  • newspapers
  • magazines
  • catalogs
  • pamphlets & brochures
  • business cards
  • windowed envelopes
  • sticky notes.

Do not recycle the following: food waste, food containers, restroom waste (paper towels, tissues), hanging folders with metal bars, film or photographs, phone books, foil coated paper or carbon, adhesive labels, plastic lined mailing envelopes, spiral or 3 ring binders.

To Recycle Electronics (E-Waste)

Beginning January 1, 2012, NYS law has made it illegal for businesses, private or public corporations, not for profit corporations, & government entities, et al. to dispose of electronic waste. This waste must be recycled. Therefore, the Town cannot collect any E-Waste placed at the curb in the business district.

Any E-Waste put out for collection with garbage will be stickered and the property owner or occupant may be subject to a fine or summons. Should your business have E-Waste to recycle, the Town of Huntington has a drop off site for E-Waste at the Recycling Center located at 641 New York Avenue, Huntington, NY, 11743. It is available Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Please call the Recycling Center at 631-427-6377 for more information.

Electronic Equipment Covered by the Law:
Computers, televisions, cathode ray tubes, small scale servers, computer peripherals; monitors, electronic keyboards, electronic mice or similar pointing devices, facsimile machines, document scanners, printers (only those intended for use with a computer and weighing less than 100 lbs.). 
Small electronic equipment; VCRs, digital video recorders, portables digital music players, DVD players, digital converter boxes, cable or satellite receivers, electronic or video game consoles.
