Textile Recycling

Huntington residents are urged to recycle old clothing and other textiles either by using charitable drop off boxes or by bringing them to the Recycling Center.

The Recycling Center’s “Clothing Drop Box” will accept only clean, dry items. Soiled, rotted or moldy textiles will contaminate the entire load.

Between 50 and 90% of all clothing dropped off will be reused as clothing in its original form. The remaining textiles will be made into wiping rags, batting or roofing material.

When gathering clothes for drop off bear in mind that textiles include more than just standard clothing. hats, belts, sheets, quilts, drapes, handbags, blankets, bedspreads, curtains, towels, socks and paired shoes are textiles too. Any and all of these items can be recycled through Town’s drop off program.
