Shopping Assistance Program for Senior Citizens
The CSE Shopping Assistance Program service is available to residents of the Township of Huntington who are 60 years of age and older. The Shopping Assistance Program is sponsored by the Town of Huntington with funding by Suffolk County Office for the Aging. This program is funded by New York State Office for the Aging through Suffolk County Office for the Aging.
The CSE Shopping Assistance Program provides older adults, in need of aid, with essential shopping. The assistance can include online ordering, curbside pickup, shopping on behalf of clients and/or assisting with the receipt of groceries at the clients’ home. This program is not meant to pay for an individual’s groceries or medications or delivery fees.
Additionally, the Shopping Assistance staff member will notify the Coordinator for possible additional services needed such as, Home Delivered Meals (HDM), EISEP, Telephone Reassurance Program, Adult Day Care Program, Project Excel and Adult Protective Services.Priority is given to those homebound elderly, who are frail, low income, minority, persons with a disability, isolated, with diminished ability to perform normal daily tasks.
On a monthly basis we will send a letter of request for a voluntary/anonymous contribution to all our senior clients participating in this program. Senior clients will not be denied any services due to the inability to make a voluntary/anonymous contribution. In addition, we invite comments regarding the quality of service provided, or suggestions from clients as to how our service can be improved.
