Senior Pops Orchestra of Long Island
The Senior Pops Orchestra of Long Island was established September 1979 when two local musicians formed and funded the Pops Orchestra as a vehicle for senior citizen musicians to express their lifelong musical creativity, bringing entertainment and culture to an appreciative Long Island community.
While the organization has retained its well-known "Senior Pops" name, it has evolved into an inter-generational orchestra with musicians of every age. Since its inception, its 60-member ensemble has performed numerous free concerts annually and has distinguished itself as a serious contributor to LI's thriving cultural scene.
