Heckscher Park
Heckscher Park, located at Prime Avenue and Route 25A, is considered by many to be the "Central Park" of Huntington village.
A gift to the people of Huntington by the late financier and philanthropist August Heckscher and his wife Nannie A. Heckscher, the eighteen (18) acres of parkland and the Heckscher Museum of Art is one of the focal points for culture, education and social activity in Huntington. The park passed from the Heckscher Trust to the Town of Huntington in 1954 and has been under Town stewardship for more than a half century.
The park is now home to Huntington's Fall Festival and Summer Arts Festival. Its pond, play areas and beautiful gardens provide a tranquil rest spot in the midst of busy downtown Huntington, a few minutes’ walk away.
Heckscher Museum of Art
The Heckscher Museum of Art serves the community of Long Island through the presentation of great art and art education programs. Since its creation, the Museum has operated with the assumption of the inherent civic value of publicly accessible art.
Chapin Rainbow Outdoor Stage
This outdoor amphitheater hosts the Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival, presented by the Huntington Arts Council in cooperation with the Town. First presented in 1966, this popular summer program, which offers free performances every Tuesday through Sunday evening from late June through early August, has earned a reputation for presenting top talent to the community, with superb performances from local, national and international artists. In addition to the Summer Arts Festival and other Town programs, the Chapin Stage also hosts a variety of other performance events presented by various community groups that rent this facility at other times of the year (see “Group Use Permits” below).

9-11 Memorial, Bocce Courts, Model Sail Boating, Playground, Lighted Playing Field and 4 Lighted Tennis Courts, Sculpture Garden, 1/3 mile jogging path loop, Rest Rooms, and besides Heckscher Park is popular for nature study, and has many opportunities to view the varied plants and wildlife around the park's pond.
Group Use Permits
In addition to the many events and programs the Town holds at Heckscher Park or the simple walk around Heckscher Pond or tennis game to enjoy with family and friends on a Saturday afternoon, the Town makes Heckscher Park available on a limited basis to groups and organizations seeking to hold major events in this beautiful venue.
