1/10/2018 - Lupinacci, Board Join in Kiwanis Flag Distribution
Huntington Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci, joined by his Town Board colleagues, participated January 8 in the distribution of American Flags purchased as part of the Huntington Kiwanis International’s Eighth Annual Field of Honor fundraiser.
Each year, the Kiwanis chapter sells the flags for $35, allowing purchasers to dedicate their flag to a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces or to a victim of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The flags grace the lawn of Huntington Town Hall from September 11 until December 7, and include tags identifying the person being honored. The purchasers can then pick up their flags at the annual reception, held at Honu Kitchen, or at Town Hall.
The proceeds help support a variety of charitable activities, including sending children of active service members from Huntington to Kamp Kiwanis upstate, helping underprivileged children and assisting local veterans’ groups.
“This fundraiser has become an annual tradition at Town Hall and an attraction for people who drive by on Main Street. Everyone can see the degree to which our residents support our military and those who need assistance. Thank you to Dr. Dan Picard and the entire Huntington Kiwanis chapter for continuing this effort,” Supervisor Lupinacci said.
