5/17/2026 - Strike Contingency Plans for Monday (from the MTA)
Important Information from the MTA:
In preparation for Monday, the MTA has announced strike contingency plans for commuters.
- Shuttle service is first-come, first-serve, and there is no charge for its use. Customers must tap and pay via their phones, debit/credit cards, or OMNY card when transferring to MTA subway, buses, and NICE bus.
- The MTA team is preparing for the activation of the shuttle bus program for the Monday morning commute. Customers that must travel from Long Island should leave ample travel time for arriving at the shuttle bus location, parking, and getting on the line for the shuttle bus.
- The Customer Ambassador Program is activated for Monday's shuttle program and will be on hand assisting customers and wayfinding.
- The MTA intends to issue prorated refunds to May monthly ticket holders, pending board approval, and will have more information shortly has to how customers can redeem.
