1/11/2022 - Huntington Seeks FEMA BRIC Grant Funding for Asharoken Seawall Resiliency Upgrade Project

The Huntington Town Board held its January 11, 2022 meeting, where they: 

 

  • Authorized the Supervisor to apply for FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Funding, as a co-applicant with the Village of Asharoken, and receive such funding for the Asharoken Seawall Resiliency Upgrade Project.            
  • Approved a contract with Roland’s Electric Inc. to install an emergency standby generator at Huntington Town Hall. 
  • Strengthened controls and security practices for cash and credit card payments to the Town, amending the Town’s Policy and Procedure Manual to limit cash payments to the Offices of the Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes and further limiting the handling of cash and credit card payments to specific employees appointed by Department Directors. 
  • Appointed Supervisor Edmund J. Smyth and Councilman Eugene Cook as members of the Audit Committee
  • Appointed Huntington Town Clerk Andrew Raia as a Principal and Town Attorney Deborah Misir as an Alternate to cast a vote on behalf of the Town of Huntington at the 2022 annual meeting of the Association of Towns.             
  • Appointed Jeffrey M. Bartholomew as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) to fill an unexpired term ending 12/31/26; a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, law enforcement professional and former small business owner, Jeffrey M. Bartholomew has served as an alternate member of the ZBA since his appointment in December 2020, previously serving on the Board of Ethics since his appointment in 2019.    The Town Board scheduled public hearings for the Tuesday, February 1, 2022 Town Board meeting at 7:00 PM to consider:   
  • Executing an agreement with the Incorporated Village of Northport to furnish Fire Protection Services for the Town of Huntington Fire Protection District No. 1, nunc pro tunc. 
  • Adopting Local Law Introductory No.   1-2022 to amend the Code of the Town of Huntington Chapter 141 (Noise); adding language to clarify the existing code
  • Adopting Local Law Introductory No.   2-2022 amending the Uniform Traffic Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 3, Article II, §3-3, Schedule J.   Re: Park Avenue  - Huntington – Parking Restrictions; to improve sight distance for traffic safety purposes.    
  • Adopting Local Law Introductory No.   3-2022 amending the Uniform Traffic Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 3, Article II, §3-3, Schedule J.   Re: Wolf Hill Rd.  – Huntington Station – Parking Restrictions; to prevent drivers from parking on the sidewalk. 
  • Authorizing the Supervisor to execute license agreements with various sports related organizations for the use of Town facilities
