3/20/2020 - Town of Huntington Playgrounds Closed, Highway Ceases Non-Emergency Operations, HART Bus Schedule Changing, Senior Services Changing

Huntington – Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci has provided an update via robocall to residents on Friday, March 20 regarding the latest measures the Town of Huntington has taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, including the closing of Town of Huntington playgrounds, Highway ceasing non-emergency operations, HART Bus schedule changes, and Senior Division service changes:

 

Due to reduced staffing and to ensure you are connected to the appropriate Town staff, please call the main Town switchboard at (631) 351-3000 Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM to be connected to any Department or email a Department directly at HuntingtonNY.gov. Service requests and issues may be reported online using our Huntington At Your Service feature.

 

All playgrounds and bathrooms at Town parks and beaches are closed until further notice. Parks and golf courses remain open.

 

The Huntington Highway Department has ceased non-emergency operations. Report road emergencies, such as downed trees, flooding, and downed stop signs online at HuntingtonNY.gov/Highway or by phone at (631) 499-0444.

 

Please report safety issues related to traffic signals, traffic control signage and/or street lighting online at HuntingtonNY.gov using our At Your Service portal or by calling the Public Safety 24-Hour Emergency Hotline: (631) 351-3234.

 

Starting Monday, March 23, HART Fixed Route Service will move to a Saturday schedule, which runs from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, for all weekday routes until further notice; fixed routes do not operate on Sundays. Paratransit service will continue to operate unaffected by these changes. HART Buses should only be used for essential travel. The Senior Center’s Home Delivered Meal Delivery program will change starting Tuesday, March 24: the last day for single hot and frozen meal delivery will be Monday, March 23;  starting Tuesday, March 24, five (5) frozen meals will be delivered on Tuesdays only; the Senior Center has stopped taking new signups for the program.

 

The Senior Center’s Congregate Frozen Meal pick up program will change starting Tuesday, March 24: the last day for single frozen meal pickup will be Monday, March 23; starting Tuesday, March 24, five (5) frozen meals will be available for pickup on Tuesdays only for registered seniors only between 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM at the Senior Center facility (employees will bring the frozen meals outside); there will be a car line-up for registered seniors to be checked in and to give voluntary contribution before picking up frozen meals; the Senior Center has stopped taking new signups for the program.

 

The Senior Division’s Residential Repair Services and Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program have been limited to emergency calls only starting Friday, March 20. Please call the Senior Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at (631) 351-3253.
