6/13/2019 - Lupinacci Honors U.S. Navy Reserve and Korean War Veteran, “Taps” Trumpeter Stanley Wertheimer for His Dedication to Service

Huntington - Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci honored veteran Stanley Wertheimer, who played "Taps" on the beautifully renovated Veterans Plaza, ahead of the May 29 Town Board meeting.

 

“I would like to personally thank Mr. Wertheimer for playing a beautiful rendition of such a powerful musical composition,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “It was a very special moment and all who were present were truly taken aback – thank you for your service, Mr. Wertheimer.

Moments after the performance, Supervisor Lupinacci honored Mr. Wertheimer at the Town Board meeting for his continued dedication to service.

 

Stanley Wertheimer is a U.S Navy reserve veteran who served in the Korean War. He is also a life member of the Centerport Fire Department. Stanley plays "Taps" on one of his trumpets or bugle every night from his home in Centerport, paying tribute to our fallen U.S. service members, police and fire department first responders.

Mr. Wertheimer has lived in Centerport with Gloria, his wife of 61 years, since 1957.
