Here is the schedule of Summer Arts Festival Performances for the week of August 2-6:
Wednesday, August 2 - L.I. Spotlight - The Long Island Jazz Orchestra specializes in performing the original distinctive arrangements of the big band and swing orchestras of the 40s to present, along with original contemporary arrangements and premier compositions. Each musician is a conservatory trained music specialist that has a deep and sincere love for the art of jazz. All are experienced professional musicians who love to play jazz for their own satisfaction and ultimately for the audience to enjoy. Band Director Mike Ficco is best known for his work as a jazz saxophonist, ensemble clinician, NYSSMA jazz adjudicator/All County Jazz Ensemble Director, and recording musician.
Thursday, August 3 - World Music/Classical Crossover - Villalobos Brothers have been acclaimed as one of today's leading Contemporary Mexican ensembles, delivering an exciting and intoxicating brew of brilliance, cadence and virtuosity that awaken the senses and mesmerize the listener. Their original compositions and arrangements masterfully blend and celebrate the richness of Mexican folk music with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music. Villalobos Brothers are: Ernesto Villalobos, lead vocals and violin; Alberto Villalobos, lead vocals and violin; Luis Villalobos, lead vocals and violin; Humberto Flores, back-up vocals and guitar; Rosa Avila, drums; and Leo Sherman, bass.
Friday, August 4 - "Smokey Joe's Café" - BroadHollow Theatre Productions - Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, as much as anyone, virtually invented rock 'n' roll, and now their songs provide the basis for an electrifying entertainment that illuminates a golden age of American culture. In an idealized '50's setting, the classic themes of love won, lost and imagined blend with slice-of-life emotions. Featuring nearly 40 of the greatest songs ever recorded, Smokey Joe's Café isn't just great pop music-it is compelling musical theatre.

Saturday, August 5 - Long Island Concert Orchestra. David Stewart Wiley (Conductor) served as Music Director & Conductor of the L.I. Philharmonic from 2001 until it closed in February, 2016. He continues to have a significant musical presence on Long Island, with education programs, summer parks concerts, and other vital events. Wiley leads up to 40 concerts a season as Music Director and Conductor of the Roanoke Symphony in Virginia. He has conducted such distinguished symphonies as Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, San Francisco, and Saint Louis, among others in most U.S. states. This concert marks the return by The Concert Orchestra of L. I. in an all classical program with musicians formerly members of the L.I. Philharmonic. Mr. Wiley will have a pre-concert talk introducing the evening’s program: “Mozart, Salieri, and Grieg: A Little Night Music.
Sunday, August 6 - World Music/Classical/Crossover Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica Quintet - Referencing the exotica of composers ranging from Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich to George Gershwin, Martin Denny and John Adams, Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica performs global jazz and chamber music with world-music flavors sourced from Asia, the Middle East, the Balkans and Latin America. Led by multi-percussionist, vibraphonist and composer Brian O'Neill, the group also features Geni Skendo (bass flute/woodwinds), Jeremy Smith (percussion), Brad Barrett (acoustic bass), and Tev Stevig (oud/tanbur/resonator guitar). The Orchestrotica was named the 2012 "Best World Music Act" in the Boston Phoenix's annual readers' poll.
