7/21/2015 - Movies on the Lawn Continues July 23 with Big Hero 6

The Town of Huntington’s Movies on the Lawn Program will continue with the Walt Disney animated adventure BIG HERO 6 on July 23rd.

The nostalgia continues with a Drive-In movie at Crab Meadow Beach on Thursday, July 23rd.
[Rain Date: Thurs. August 6th.] Big Hero 6 is an animated adventure about the special bond that develops between an inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech superheroes.

"This is great family entertainment. Pack up your picnic supper, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy this summer's movie line-up,” said Councilman Mark Cuthbertson. " Our thanks to Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Jonathan’s Ristorante of Huntington Village and LaCasa at Crab Meadow Beach for co-sponsoring this year’s line-up.”

Unfortunately, our first drive-in movie - “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” might have been rained out, but it has been rescheduled! The new “Rain Date” is Thursday, July 30 at Crab Meadow Beach.

In addition, there’s still time to sign-up for the Town’s FOURTH Annual Sand Castle Contest, sponsored by La Casa Café’ at Crab Meadow Beach that will be held before the July 30 showing of “Raiders.” The Sand Castle Contest is open to Huntington Residents in two AGE categories – for both solo and group competitions: Ages 16 & Under and Ages 17 & Up. Two lucky winners will receive a gift certificate to LaCasa Café…Complements of LaCasa. Gates to Crab Meadow Beach will open at 4pm for those registered in the Sand Castle Contest. For our last movie of the summer, we are asking our fans to vote for their favorite movie which will be shown at Peter Nelson Park in Huntington Station on Monday, August 17th. The deadline to vote is Thursday, July 23rd and the winning title will be announced before the drive-in showing of BIG HERO 6.

The three movie choices are:

1) Cinderella (2015 edition)
2) Frozen
3) Maleficent

All movies begin at darkness (between 8:30-9:00 pm). It is suggested that you pack lawn chairs, including the drive-in performances, in the event the drive-in lot fills early. Overflow parking is available and bus service brings people and their belongings to the beach.
