Cardio Drumming Class

Place: Senior Center - Entrance by Red Awning
Room: Gym (Class size limit 40)
Day: Alternating Fridays
Time: 10:00 - 10:45 am
Instructor: Ken Shah, PTA (Physical Therapy)

  

The Cardio drumming Program is a clinically supervised, individually tailored program consisting of exercise and education to help seniors feel better, increase endurance and improve their quality of life. Hearts with a Beat is a 45-60 minute cardio drumming class that provides all the benefits of cardiovascular exercise by combining chair aerobics and deep breathing with drumming along with a lively soundtrack. This class burns calories, facilities lung function, and improves blood flow through the entire body to help fight the effects of heart disease in an age-appropriate manner. 

Instructor’s Biography: Ken Shah, PTA is Senior Coordinator for Cardiopulmonary Program for Paragon Management and Director of Cardiopulmonary Program at Excel at Woodbury. 

Kandrap Shah (Ken Shah) obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Long Island University in 2009, where he participated as a Division 1 Collegiate Athlete for the men’s tennis team. He also received his degree in Applied Science/Physical Therapist Assistant Program from LaGuardia Community College in 2011. He is a Certified Aquatic and Cardiopulmonary Therapist in in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation. Ken is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in which he applies scientific knowledge to train the geriatric population for the primary goal of improving active daily living performance. He gained valuable cardiopulmonary and orthopedic experience completing clinical affiliations in subacute, outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation settings. He has special interest in chronic/overuse syndromes, sports-related injuries, post-operative orthopedic conditions, cardiopulmonary rehab and aquatic rehab.
