9/18/2014 - Petrone, Cuthbertson Welcome Avalon Huntington Station
Huntington Station – Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and Councilman Mark Cuthbertson helped cut the ribbon September 17 marking the official opening of the Avalon Huntington Station community.

During a brief ceremony at a reception that featured a stilt-walking juggler, a strolling magician, acrobats and an electric violin, Matthew Whelan, senior vice president of development for Avalon Bay Communities, thanked Supervisor Petrone and Councilman Cuthbertson for their roles in supporting the project. Mr. Whelan noted that the project had brought jobs to the community, as well as much-needed rental housing.

In their remarks, both Supervisor Petrone and Councilman Cuthbertson highlighted the role Avalon Huntington Station has played and will continue to play in spurring further Huntington Station revitalization and they welcomed its tenants to the community.

Mr. Whelan noted that approximately 230 of the 303 rental apartments have already been occupied and the others are filled as soon as construction is complete. The development also includes 76 for-sale units, which will be built following completion of the rental units.
