Huntington
– Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci praised Town of Huntington Harbormaster
staff after two bay constables rescued two kayakers off
of Quentin Sammis West Neck Beach around 3:00 PM on Monday, May 4.
Supervisor
Chad A. Lupinacci posted on social media May 4: “Thank you to Town of
Huntington Bay Constable Tim Lutz (left) and Senior Bay
Constable Ryan Sammis (right) who rescued two kayakers who were in the
water suffering from hypothermia off of Quentin Sammis West Neck Beach
this afternoon under the direction of Senior Harbormaster Fred Uvena and
Acting Director of Maritime Services Dom Spada,
who responded by vehicle on land. Tim and Ryan credited their ability to
respond in heavy seas, from Huntington inlet to Cold Spring Harbor, to
the Department's new response vessel, which Acting Director Spada
procured last year with 75% of the cost coming
from a $330,000 grant from FEMA!”
