Huntington – On January 23, in a 5-1
vote, the Huntington Planning Board strongly recommended to the Zoning Board of
Appeals (ZBA) that they deny all variances requested on the Downtown Huntington
application.
Planning Board member Jane Devine
proposed an amendment to add the word "strongly" to the initial draft
recommendation that the ZBA deny the request for all variances on the Downtown
Huntington application, Leslie Cernava seconded the amendment, and newly
appointed members Vice Chairman Paul Ehrlich and Mara Manin Amendola also voted
"yes" to "strongly" recommend the ZBA deny all variances on
the project, passing the amendment by a vote of 4-2.
The updated draft recommendation to
the ZBA then passed 5-1. (Note: While there are seven members on the Planning
Board, Chairman Paul Mandelik does not vote unless there is a tie.)
There will be a public hearing on
the Downtown Huntington application tonight, January 24, at 6:00 PM during the
ZBA meeting at Town Hall.
