11/8/2018 - Lupinacci, Cuthbertson Announce 2018 Holiday Decorating Contest, Prizes Bigger, Better Than Ever

Huntington – Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci and Councilman Mark Cuthbertson have raised the stakes for the 2018 Holiday Decorating Contest, sponsored by Long Islander News, with the largest prize packages the contest has even seen, donated from Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate; The Paramount; John W. Engeman Theater at Northport; Honu Kitchen & Cocktails, and goodie bags from Copenhagen Bakery of Northport. Winners will be announced in the December 20 edition of the Long Islander News.

 

“We hope to bring out the best of Huntington’s creative, festive holiday spirit with these extraordinary prizes donated by our generous sponsors,” said Supervisor Lupinacci. “We’re raising the stakes for a very competitive holiday decorating contest!”

 

“This is our 4th year doing this contest, each year the entries get better and better so we stepped up with bigger and better prizes,” said Councilman Cuthbertson. “Game on Huntington show us your best display. Thank you to our sponsors for their generous donations.”

 

The 2018 Holiday Decorating Contest will focus on residential entries only, streamlining the prize categories down to a simple 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, awarding the following prizes to winners:

 

1ST PLACE GRAND PRIZE

$1,000 VIP Package at The Paramount:

10 Tickets * VIP Box * Founders Room Access * Sunday, January 13, The Doo Wop Project @ 7PM

Entries may include indoor decorations, outdoor displays or both. Residents wishing to enter the contest must submit their entries and photos on the Town website by the December 10 deadline: http://www.huntingtonny.gov/holiday-decorating-contest

 

Supervisor Lupinacci and Councilman Cuthbertson will be visiting finalists’ homes with their staff of elves to judge entries on evenings between Thursday, December 13 and Sunday, December 16. Finalists will be contacted to schedule a date the judging team will visit their homes.

 

Winners will be notified ahead of the December 20 edition of the Long Islander News, where photos of winning entries will be published along with honorable mentions.
