In
a letter received by the Town of Huntington at 1:10 PM on Wednesday, May 16,
2018, from attorneys for Syndicated Ventures, LLC, the applicant for the
proposed Villadom development project, the applicant has requested an
adjournment of the combined public hearings scheduled for Thursday, May 17 at
7:00 PM. The letter states that the applicant will be amending their
application as a result of communications with representatives of the community
and in light of the Town’s Planning Board recommendations.
“In
light of the new information received by the Town, the May 17 public hearings
on the Villadom project must be adjourned,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci.
“The hearings may only be rescheduled to a later date at the discretion of the
Town Board.”
There is no new public hearing scheduled for Villadom at this
time and the Town Board is not required to schedule another public hearing on
this application.
“The applicant’s request to
adjourn their own public hearing indicates they have heard the community’s
concerns. We will have a better idea of the impact the community feedback had if and when the amended plan is submitted to the Town for review,” said Supervisor Lupinacci.
Due
to the short notice of the adjournment request and the wide-scale communication
of the change of location for the evening Town Board Meeting on Thursday, May
17th at 7:00 PM, the Town Board Meeting location will remain at Elwood Middle
School, located at 478 Elwood Road in Elwood.
On
April 10, 2018, the Town Board voted to move this Town Board Meeting to Elwood
Middle School, a larger venue in the heart of the Elwood community, to
accommodate high interest in the Villadom public hearing and making it easier
for residents neighboring the proposed development to attend.
