Woodbury -- It was a full house once again for Councilwoman Tracey A. Edwards' annual Senior Reunion, with 515 seniors, ages 75 and above, converging on the Crest Hollow Country club October 27 to celebrate living in the town of Huntington for at least 50 years.
The event has its genesis in a meeting at Councilwoman Edwards' office three years ago at which a group of seniors came lamented that they only saw old friends at weddings and funerals. Councilwoman Edwards formed a senior reunion committee, which resulted in the first event, which attracted 250 people. It has grown steadily since then.
Councilwoman Edwards said, “I was so honored to host our Third Annual Senior Reunion luncheon. Seniors that met the criteria were invited to reminisce and reconnect with friends. This year we welcomed 515 wonderful seniors, the first year we started with only 150 attendees. We listened to Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, and Lena Horn, while everyone reconnected and reminisced with friends that some may not have seen in many years. I want to thank our major sponsors, Breslin Realty in Garden City, PSEG Long Island, Aboff’ s and Gurwin who through their generous donations help make the Senior Reunion a huge success”
