Town of Huntington, NY - News Details

12/22/2016 - Winners Chosen for 2016 Holiday Decorating Contest

Councilwoman Tracey Edwards, the Town of Huntington and Long Islander News present the winners of the second annual Town of Huntington Holiday Decorating Contest. Now in its second year, the contest is officially a Town of Huntington holiday tradition that awards residents who best show their holiday spirit.

Here’s how it worked: Residents submitted photographs of their holiday displays and a panel of judges led by Santa
Tracey Edwards selected the best of several categories. This past weekend, Santa Tracey and her Elves visited the finalists’ homes to select the winners.

Special thanks to the judges who joined Councilwoman Tracey Edwards:

  • NYS Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci
  • Suffolk County Legislator William “Doc” Spencer and family;
  • Councilman Mark Cuthbertson
  • Councilman Gene Cook and family
  • Huntington Superintendent of Highways Pete and Mary Gunther
  • Elf Michele Martines, Elf Steve Jiminez; and especially, Elf Troy Jerideau.

Our judges had an extremely difficult time selecting winners. There were twice the amount of entries from last year and all were beautiful, festive, and fun.

We also had some thoughtful and unique entries this year; Like the Tomeo family that has a tree honoring the fallen police officer from our community and the Creegan family that projects a Christmas movie from their window for all to see.

Our community has a wonderful spirit so thank you for taking the time to decorate our wonderful town. Thank you again for participating and get ready for next year’s contest.

 We wish you a Happy and healthy New Year!

Councilwoman Tracey Edwards
