Town of Huntington - Highlights

8/17/2016 - A Special Day at Project Play

Huntington Station – Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and Councilman Mark Cuthbertson joined with campers attending the Town’s Project Play Camp in thanking the Suffolk County Police Department’s Hispanic Society for funding a day of special activities, including a bounce house and a disc jockey, on the last day of camp August 12.

Each year for the past few years, the Hispanic Society had donated money to help fund a field trip for the campers to a Farmingdale video arcade emporium that has since closed. This year, the funding went to pay for the fun-filled day of the activities at the camp site, the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.

In meeting the the campers, Supervisor Petrone and Councilman Cuthbertson were joined by Legis. DuWayne Gregory, presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature; Dep. Insp. Matthew McCormick, executive officer of the Second Precinct; and Hispanic Society representatives Sgt. Richard Dougherty (the Society’s president), Sgt. Gerald Frielingsdorf and Police Officer Eileen Nieves.
