The primary mission of the Assessor’s Office is to value all real property within the Town in a fair and equitable manner and maintain accurate and timely Town Assessment Rolls. When the Roll is finalized each year becomes the tax base upon which the annual Town Tax Warrant is assessed. Huntington’s Tax Warrant is more than $900 million.
The property taxes collected fund municipal government, including the Town, Suffolk County, and Huntington’s school districts, library districts and special districts (fire, water, ambulance, sewer, refuse, lighting, and business improvement districts). An accurate assessment roll is vital to the delivery public services and maintaining the fiscal strength of local government.
• Town Assessor is an appointed official authorized under State Law and Huntington Town Code to determine the value of real property within the unincorporated areas of the Town of Huntington.
Office Hours: Monday - Friday (8:30 am – 4:30 pm)
• STAR Program, School Tax Relief Act, provides property tax relief for owner-occupied primary residences (Basic STAR) and income eligible Senior Citizens homeowners (Enhanced STAR).
