We are all at risk for osteoporosis regardless of age, gender, or race. The class targets exercises for specific body parts including but not limited to: wrists, ankles, hips, and the spine which are high risk areas. There are special exercises to improve balance that will help to prevents falls and fractures. To accomplish these goals, we utilize light weights, resistance tubing and a small exercise ball. Participants can either sit or stand while executing the movements.

Instructor’s Biography: When Melinda Dobrin retired as a high school teacher, she attended Hofstra University. There she enrolled in the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education where she received certification as a personal trainer / health fitness instructor. This certification includes a course in CPR/AED. Both of these certifications require recertification every 2 years with completion of 15 hours of course work and renewal of CPR/AED. In addition to volunteering at the Senior Center, Malinda teaches an exercise program at Half Hollow Hills.
