12/27/2021 - Town of Huntington Inauguration Postponed

Huntington – The January 2, 2022 Town of Huntington Inaugural Ceremony has been temporarily postponed while the January 4, 2022 Town Board meeting will go on as scheduled with COVID-19 precautions in place. 

 

“The Inauguration is ceremonial in nature while Town Board meetings are an essential function of government,” said Supervisor-elect Ed Smyth. “We are taking all necessary precautions to keep government running efficiently and safely and we will make a determination regarding the Inaugural ceremony when all members of the community will be comfortable participating.” 

 

The Town of Huntington Inaugural Ceremony has been temporarily postponed to a date, time and location yet to be determined. The event was initially scheduled for 12:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station. 

 

All incoming elected officials will be officially sworn in by Town Clerk Andrew P. Raia by 11:59 PM on December 31, 2021, including Supervisor-elect Edmund J. Smyth, Councilmen-elect Dr. Dave Bennardo and Salvatore Ferro, and Superintendent of Highways-elect Andre Sorrentino. 

 

The January 4, 2022 Town Board meeting will take place as scheduled, at 2:00 PM in the Town Board Room at Huntington Town Hall with COVID-19 precautions in place, including temperature checks when entering the building, face masks required upon entering the building and throughout the meeting, and social distancing. The meeting will broadcast live on Optimum 18, FIOS 38 and online at https://www.huntingtonny.gov/meetings
