7/11/2014 - Councilwoman Berland Announces Survey on Summer Leaf Blower Proposals
Huntington, NY – Councilwoman Susan A. Berland is seeking input from Town of Huntington residents about legislative proposals to restrict the use of leaf blowers in the Town during summer months.

The survey, which can be found on the Councilwoman’s page at the Town of Huntington website, will ask for resident’s opinions on a wide range of possible restrictions on residential and commercial leaf blower use from June 1st - September 1st as this is not the time period for leaf removal.

“I have had several residents personally express their concerns about the negative health effects associated with the use of leaf blowers during the summer months,” commented Councilwoman Berland. “Whether it is the numerous pollutants spread via their use during a time of year with few leaves on the ground, or the exhaust pollution from their engines, I do believe there is a genuine cause for concern. I am considering a few proposals to better regulate the use of leaf blowers during the summer and I am interested in hearing what residents have to say.”
