5/22/2019 - JUNE 1: Elevator Service Shutdown for LIRR Huntington Station Parking Garages Set for Saturday, June 1 at 9AM

T-Mobile to Install Power Supply for Existing Cell Antennas, Upgrade to Shut Down Elevator Service Approximately 10 Hours

Huntington Station – PSEG Long Island will be shutting down electrical service to the north and south parking garages at LIRR Huntington Station, rendering elevator service at both garages inoperable on Saturday, June 1, starting at 9:00 AM and lasting approximately 10 hours, to allow T-Mobile to perform a power upgrade.

T-Mobile is installing their own power supply for existing cell phone antennas at LIRR Huntington Station. Power to both garages must be shut down to complete the project.

During the power outage, the elevators for both garages will not function. Customers can access the tracks as follows:

  • NORTH PARKING GARAGE: Access to the tracks is provided by two (2) ACCESSIBLE RAMPS. One ramp is located adjacent to the North Parking Garage, and the second ramp is near the Train Station House.
  • SOUTH PARKING GARAGE: Access to the tracks is provided by eight (8) ACCESSIBLE STALLS ON THE SECOND LEVEL of the South Garage, and by an ACCESSIBLE RAMP located at the west end near the traffic circle.

There is an on-site generator which will provide power for lighting purposes only; the contractor investigated the possibility of performing the work using emergency generators to power the elevators but it was determined that the elevators would reject the generator power. The work was scheduled for Saturday to have the least possible impact on commuters.
