Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone accepted a $5,000 check from Huntington Honda June 22 on behalf of the Town’s Give A Dog A Dream Foundation and thanked the automobile dealership for its support of the Town’s efforts to adopt dogs at the Town Animal Shelter by sponsoring two adoption fairs at its showroom.
Give A Dog A Dream is the non-profit the Town created to raise money earmarked for providing specialized services for dogs at the Town’s animal shelter. As part of its support for Give A Dog A Dream, Huntington Honda committed to making a donation for every car sold in April and June, up to $5,000. The dealership also sponsored the two adoption events.
During the June 22 adoption event, Supervisor Petrone accepted the check from Huntington Honda general manager Irfan Mohammed and thanked him for the company’s commitment to helping shelter dogs find forever homes.
Give A Dog A Dream provides dogs in need with access to specialized health care and surgery, customized training regimens, advanced behavior modification programs and immersive socialization and wellness programs. It offers resources such as training and education to both dog owners and surrounding animal shelters. It coordinates and sponsors pet adoption events and fundraisers to increase opportunities for dogs to find loving adoptive families and new homes. Its overall goal is to prevent pet surrenders to animal shelters and unnecessary euthanasia and to strengthen the ability of the animal shelter to provide support for abandoned and displaced dogs. The foundation has set up a website, www.giveadogadream.org, through which persons can make donations or volunteer to work with the dogs at the Town shelter on Deposit Road in East Northport.
