“All of the forecasts indicate that this storm will include a significant snowfall and high winds, and continue for an extended period of time,” Supervisor Petrone said. “Residents should stay off the roads, and make sure to park their cars off the streets to facilitate plowing and access for emergency vehicles. “

Under a snow emergency, the Supervisor has the power to close roads, appropriate necessary equipment from all sources and make necessary purchases without following the usual procedures. The declaration also makes available to the Highway Department Town equipment and personnel to assist Highway Department crews.

Supervisor Petrone said that the Town’s Emergency Operations Center will open at noon today, January 26, and remain open as needed through the storm and its aftermath.

Town facilities, including Town Hall, will close at 3 p.m. today, Monday January 26, and remain closed to the public all day Tuesday, January 27.
