Town of Huntington - Highlights

8/27/2014 - Cuthbertson Honors Richard Pastore

For most of us, the red and white striped pole outside of a storefront means haircuts, combs in jars, straight razors and customers lined-up in chairs. For over half a century, this has meant a lot more to Richard Pastore.

“For more than five decades, Richard Pastore has been part of the fabric of Northport Village's Main Street. He worked five days per week and nearly fourteen hours per day,” remarked Councilman Mark Cuthbertson. “Things have certainly changed since 1962, except for the price of Richard’s haircut. His customers paid the same $3.50 from the day he opened, through the day he closed on July 31st, 2014. That is truly remarkable and is a testament to his passion, dedication and devotion to the community,” added Cuthbertson.

Richard Pastore intends to spend the next chapter of his life traveling and seeing the world. The Town of Huntington extends its best wishes to Mr. Pastore for many happy, healthy and safe miles ahead.
