8/16/2013 - Superman Brings 2013 Movies on the Lawn Program to a Close

SUPERMAN & Second Annual Sand Castle Contest

The 10th season of the Movies on the Lawn program, hosted by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson and the Town of Huntington, comes to a close on Thursday, August 22nd with the 1978 classic SUPERMANfeaturing Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, Margo Kidder and Gene Hackman. 
The movie will be shown at the “drive-in” at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport at darkness, between 8:30 and 9 p.m. It is suggested that attendees pack lawn chairs in the event the drive-in lot fills early. Overflow parking is available and bus service will bring people and their belongings to the beach.

“This is great family entertainment. Pack up your picnic supper, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy this summer's movie line-up,” Councilman Cuthbertson said. “With every passing year, the crowd of movie-goers multiplies so it's wise to arrive at each venue a little early. We plan to have some fun things to see and do before each show. Our thanks to Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Jonathan’s Ristorante of Huntington Village, and La Casa Cafe at Crab Meadow Beach for co-sponsoring this year’s line-up.”

The SECOND ANNUAL SAND CASTLE CONTEST will be held before the movie on August 22nd. The contest is open to Huntington residents in two age categories: 16 & Under and 17 & Up. Registration is available through the Town’s website at www.HuntingtonNY.gov/sandcastlecontest. One winner from each age category will receive a gift certificate to La Casa Cafe. Gates to Crab Meadow Beach will open at 4 p.m. for those registered in the Sand Castle Contest.

**In the event of inclement weather, the SAND CASTLE CONTEST will be canceled and SUPERMAN will be held indoors at James H. Boyd Intermediate School Auditorium at 286 Cuba Hill Road in Elwood and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
